If so could you’re business benefit from a grant of up to 40% of the value of your project? Grants available for Dartmoor Businesses.

The Greater Dartmoor LEAF (Local Economic Action Fund) provides grant funding to help rural businesses grow and succeed.

The maximum intervention rate is 40% but you can match this through your own capital, investment capital or borrowing. Both capital and revenue projects can qualify providing you have a robust business plan and the investment will help stimulate the rural economy of Devon through growth or ideally creation of new jobs.

So far over 50 new jobs have been created with an investment across 27 projects. Grant aid handed out so far is in excess of £217k.

The scheme, which is administered by Okehampton based “not-for-profit” The DR Company, comes to an end in March 2019 so the money won’t be around forever.

The DR Company provides free and impartial advice and guidance to all rural businesses on how to access grant funding and their business advisers can help with the creation of business plans and even in the writing of grant applications.

The Greater Dartmoor LEAF funding is aimed at stimulating the rural economy of Dartmoor through business growth and job creation.

The projects that have benefited from Grant funding so far are very diverse as are the projects funded. The Dartmoor Whisky Distillery received funding to them set up a new whisky distillery in Bovey Tracey whilst Hunt’s Cider received a grant to help buy new equipment and carry out a rebranding exercise.

Farming businesses have been given support buying new pieces of equipment allowing them to diversify their activities.

There is a particular call just now for more enquiries from Tourism Businesses who may be looking to invest in current facilities, develop new product offerings or to increase their footfall.
